Tuition

We run three types of tuition workshops at Shoreline Glass. For someone who has never tried working with stained glass before, a Beginners Day is an ideal introduction, where they can learn the basic skills and leave the workshop with a finished panel at the end. Someone who has completed a Beginners Day or is already familiar with the craft (up to intermediate level) may enjoy a short series of Evening Classes, which would enable them to complete a more complex project. Finally, for a party of two to five people, we can arrange a day (or longer) to suit their requirements and experience level.

If you book onto one of our workshops, there is no need to bring anything along with you, however you should dress in clothing you don't mind getting grubby or bring an apron. You must not wear open-toed footwear in the studio. You need to be over 16 years of age to attend our tuition. For health and safety reasons, pregnant women should not attend.

All workshops take place in our new studio, located in High Street, Ilfracombe, North Devon

Beginners' Day

The Beginners' Day will cost 60 per person. The size of each class is limited to five students and places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

The cost of the course includes all the materials and equipment you will need to complete an A4-sized Tiffany panel or mirror, which you can take home with you. We will provide a selection of suitable patterns for you to work to.

On the Beginners' Day, you will learn how to cut the glass to fit the pattern, wrap the edges in copper foil, then solder the panel together.

The day is scheduled to run from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, but may sometimes overrun a little. We can provide hot drinks for you during the day but there will be a break for lunch as food may not be consumed in the studio.

My Beginners' Days this Summer are on:
Saturday 23rd June
Saturday 21st July
Saturday 18th August
Evening Class

We will also be running a Thursday Evening Class (7:00 to 9:00 pm) for students at Beginner or Intermediate level. The course will run for six weeks starting on (date to be confirmed) but if anyone on the course is unable to attend any of the scheduled nights, there will be an extra evening at the end of the course for them to catch up.

The Evening Class will allow you to work on a project of your choice, using either the traditional leading method or the Tiffany (copper foil) method. The cost for the six weeks is 100, materials however are extra.

Tailored Workshops

Small groups (up to five people) who would like a course of tuition tailored to their requirements should contact us to discuss what can be arranged.
